Statement on current Trade Union disputes

The Covid-19 pandemic revealed how reliant we are on key workers. Those working in health and social care, education, transport, communications and other essential services were vital in maintaining the social fabric during periods of lockdown. Now in 2023, with the cost-of-living crisis hitting many of those very same workers across Oxfordshire and beyond, they are having to resort to industrial action to secure fair pay and acceptable working conditions.

Oxfordshire Green Party expresses its full support for striking workers across the County and will be demonstrating its support by joining the "March Together, Strike Together" march and rally. Marchers will assemble at 12:00 noon on Sunday 22nd January at Manzil Way, Oxford, OX4 1YH. This event is being organised by the Oxford and District Trades Council. All Green Party members are invited to join and show solidarity with trade unions across Oxfordshire. Confirmed speakers at the rally include Dave Ward (General Secretary of the Communication Workers Union) and Matt Wrack (General Secretary of the Fire Brigades Union).
