Levellers’ Day 2015 will take place in Burford, Oxfordshire, on Saturday 16 May 10.30am to 3.30pm
We are looking for helpers on the Oxfordshire Green Party Stall between 12 noon and 3.30 pm at the Recreation Ground, Tanners Lane, Burford, OX18 4NB. If you can help, please reply via this website.
The Programme for the day as follows:
10.30 Songs by the Sea Green Singers outside Burford Church
11.00 Commemoration Address by The Reverend Mark Chapman
11.15 Guest speakers will lay flowers in the churchyard on the site of the execution of the three Levellers
11.25 The Parade sets off from the Church to the Recreation Ground
12.00 Arrive at the Recreation Ground

- Cry Havoc Morris Dancers
- Woodcraft Folk children’s activities
13.15 The Debate Education – the key to Democracy
Speakers for the debate (to be followed by questions and discussion from the floor) are:
- Melissa Benn journalist and writer
- Kevin Courtney Assistant General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers
- Danny Dorling British social geographer & Halford Mackinder Professor of Geography of the School of Geography and the Environment of the University of Oxford. He is also a Visiting Professor in the Department of Sociology of Goldsmiths University of London, a Visiting Professor in the School of Social and Community Medicine of the University of Bristol, a Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Public Policy Research, and a Member of the National Advisory Panel for the Centre for Labour and Social Studies (CLASS)
- Paul Mackney will be chairing the debate
