Opposition Groups on Oxford City Council speak out on Labour's 'cash for vaccine' scandal

Opposition groups on Oxford City Councillors are calling for the resignation of the Labour Councillor caught up in the 'cash for vaccine' scandal, should the allegations prove accurate.
JOINT STATEMENT

If Cllr Azad did indeed bypass the NHS and secure a vaccine from a private medical facility through illegal means then her position is untenable. This would amount to a clear breach of the Member's Code of Conduct [1].

Questions also need to be asked about why she appears to have travelled to Birmingham to receive the vaccine, in breach of lockdown travel restrictions.

Principles such as selflessness, honesty and integrity are core to the Code of Conduct and Cllr Azad's behaviour, should the allegations be proven, would fall far short of what is expected and required of Councillors.
