Leaders across Oxford support 2040 net zero carbon emissions pledge

Says Councillor Craig Simmons, who attended today's Zero Carbon Summit, "Of course, the Greens welcome the commitment by leading businesses and organisations within the City to go carbon neutral by 2040, but a huge, huge gap remains between ambition and reality. For example, there are significant inconsistencies between the City Council's own Local Plan, passed only last year, and the 2040 carbon target. And we have seen how past targets, for example to reduce traffic levels, have not been achieved."
