Greens urge action to avoid loss of more than three community facilities in East Oxford

The Greens have hit out against the Council's preferred option to sell off the East Oxford Games Hall, Film Oxford and Chinese Community Centre buildings along with offices and land behind the latter.

Says Green Group Leader Cllr Craig Simmons: "The Council claims that they can deliver equivalent facilities on that part of the East Oxford Community Centre site that remains after selling off more than a third of the land. Yet, the consultation plans provide much less floor area than is currently utilised and no dedicated games hall."

The Greens are calling for a 'fourth option' whereby the Council invests in improvements to the current facilities without relying on sell-offs.
