Anger as climate review response delayed again

Green Councillors have expressed anger at the announcement today that the City Council's ruling Labour Cabinet has again delayed responding to the recommendations of the Climate Emergency Review Group until October.

Says Green Councillor Craig Simmons, a member of the CE Review Group and proposer of the motion to declare a Climate Emergency (which was passed in January 2019), "The Council declared a Climate Emergency in January 2019. It took months to convene the Climate Emergency Review Group to advise the Council on the actions it needed to take and now the response to the recommendations from this group, originally schedule for early March, has been delayed until October. This is an extremely disappointing response from the Labour Cabinet and hardly the reaction one expects to an emergency!"
Once measures have been agreed in October, it is expected to take many more months for them to be implemented.
