Oxford support fund could have been saved

The Oxford Support Fund, which ceases to operate on 31st March 2014, could have been saved if the City Council had accepted Green Party suggestions on its budget.

Councillor David Williams (Iffley Fields) reports:

“Oxford’s Green Party councillors drew up a budget which would have protected those leaving care, 16-17 year olds who are homeless and a variety of vulnerable adults. Amongst those adversely affected by the shutting of the Oxford Support Fund by the City Council from 31st March 2014 will be domestic abuse victims and those with mental health problems and learning or physical disabilities.

“Oxford Green Party’s budget for the City Council would have preserved the Oxford Support Fund and continued to provide resources for those in serious need of help.”
