Greens are accusing the City Council of not comprehending the enormity of the climate and ecological crisis after they recommend that residents 'litter pick' as an Earth Day activity.
Says Green Group Leader Cllr Craig Simmons, "Asking residents to litter pick for Earth Day is like asking them to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic. This Council has consistently failed to understand the enormity of the challenge facing every one of us. It is quick to make headlines - but rather slower to deliver meaningful change."
