See the actual votes for cuts by Labour councillors in Oxfordshire this spring, not their statements. Only the 2 Green Party councillors voted to increase council tax to protect services like buses and children’s centres from the Oxfordshire County Council cuts. All the Labour and Liberal Democrat county councillors voted with the Conservatives.

Aren’t Corbyn and Smith promising the end of austerity and the beginning of major investment as well as the Greens? Or am I missing the point you or somebody is making inside the quotes. Whoever is making this claim about the Green Party, I am distrustful of politicians who make claims for themselves that don’t fit with the information I have from my reading and viewing.

“The Greens are alone in denying the need for austerity, in insisting that investment in infrastructure is essential, and prudent in times of cheap money. The alternative is the continuation of a cheap labour – low productivity economy, and further widening of the gap between rich and poor, already massive in West Oxfordshire. While this gap prevails, the very rich get the best of everything – housing, education, health. Young people are especially disadvantaged. They are told they will succeed if only they are aspirational. This is cynical rubbish: the talented poor do not get the opportunity to rise: the rich rise no matter how untalented.”
