Following pressure from Green Councillor David Thomas [1], the Greens are pleased to see that Labour have reviewed the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol on housing the homeless when temperatures drop.
“Though I am glad that Labour have tweaked their policy on dealing with the homeless during cold weather, in direct response to pressure from the Greens, let’s be clear that they are still acknowledging, and permitting, rough sleeping in sub-zero temperatures. This is at a time when there are significant unspends on homelessness. Rough sleepers deserve less spin and more action.”
