Come and see what happens in a council meeting. From the public gallery see our new Green Party councillor in action.
This is the first meeting of the Vale of White Horse District Council after the Conservatives lost their majority to the Liberal Democrats. It starts with a formal AGM to elect the new chairman and council leader. On which committees will our Cheryl Briggs serve? Then there is some ordinary council business. The agenda includes support for the OVO Energy Women’s Tour and a postponed debate on the Oxford-Cambridge Expressway. Will the new council vote down the motion that doesn't completely oppose the expressway but merely commits to engaging in the consultation process?
Once you have seen a council meeting, you will being to realise why we put so much effort into getting Green council elected. Now that we have a Green councillor on the Vale council, she needs your help in fighting for local residents and keeping on top of what is happening in the council. Could you take a little time to observe committee meetings? Or help write questions a councillor can ask?
