U.S. PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE TO SPEAK FOR LARRY SANDERS, GREEN PARTY PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE, IN OXFORD

Bernie Sanders is a senior member of the United States Senate. He is within weeks of announcing that he will run for President of the United States. His brother, Larry Sanders, is the Green Party candidate for Parliament in Oxford West and Abingdon.

On Wednesday, 22nd of April at 7.30pm, Bernie will be speaking via Skype to an audience at the Wesley Memorial Church, New Inn Hall Street. Larry Sanders says:

“Bernie’s central theme is the enormous growth in inequality in the United States and across the world. He sees the obscene growth in the wealth and income of the richest 1% as directly involved in the growth of poverty, the lack of affordable housing for a large part of the population, the decline of public services and the failure to control climate change.

“Allowing for the social and political differences of the U.S. and U.K. there is an amazing similarity in the failures to tackle inequality in both countries. There are strong right-wing parties, supported by very wealthy media owners and centre-left parties which are afraid to speak for the majority because they fear the power of that media.

“Bernie argues that we need a political revolution to deal with the size of the problems we face. He is right."

Bernie’s talk and response to questions will be immensely interesting. There is no admissions charge.
