Survey reveals concern about climate change and backing for ambitious climate action

Residents have overwhelmingly expressed concern about climate change and air quality, despite the ongoing nature of the coronavirus pandemic, a new survey by Oxford City Council has found.  In addition, there was strong support among residents for electric vehicles and for greater local authority involvement in bus services.

Responding to the press release, Green Councillor Dick Wolff says, "This shows that the Council has the support of residents in going further and faster on a range of environmental initiatives; climate change, wildlife protection, habitat destruction and more. Now Council action needs to match the rhetoric. We saw recently how the Council voted down Green proposals to invest in renewable energy, instead deciding to speculate on commercial property, and the Council are even now destroying habitats in Botley to expand car parking and planning to build on acres of land with a high ecological value."
