Digital strategy, social media and elections

The geeks who helped Obama win in 2008 went on to set up companies to help political parties campaign. Unlike NationBuilder, Blue State Digital works with one party in each country to use online tools and digital strategies to help them win elections.

In conversation with Dr Victoria Nash, Matthew McGregor, Political Director of Blue State Digital will reflect on how digital strategy plays out in different political and cultural contexts. Drawing on experiences across a range of political campaigns, from the USA in 2008 and 2012 to national elections in Europe and even the forthcoming UK general election, this seminar will offer insights into the ways in which social media are altering the way we select those who lead.
