Sandra Simpson 2025 County Council Candidate for Brize Norton and Carteron East

Sandra Simpson

Green Party Candidate for Brize Norton & Carterton East – Oxfordshire County Council Election 2025

“I’ve always believed in giving back to my community — now I want to do even more to protect what matters and stand up for local people.”

🌿 A Voice with Experience and Heart

Sandra Simpson has lived in West Oxfordshire for over 20 years. With a background in education, a passion for the environment, and a long record of community service, she’s ready to bring her knowledge, energy and care to the County Council.

Sandra is already a District Councillor for Witney North — and now she’s standing to represent the Brize Norton and Carterton East division at county level. She believes local people deserve a strong, thoughtful voice at the top table — one that listens, challenges and delivers.

👩‍🏫 A Lifetime of Teaching and Learning

Sandra spent much of her career as a lecturer with the Open University and the University of Hertfordshire, teaching IT and Business Studies. Since retiring, she’s continued that work at a grassroots level — teaching local people the skills they need to gain employment and build confidence.

Her lifelong interest in the natural world grew through studies in Natural Sciences with the Open University, deepening her commitment to protecting our environment and making sustainable choices at every level of government.

🤝 A True Community Volunteer

Sandra doesn’t just talk about community — she lives it. Over the years, she’s given her time to:

  • Local playgroups and schools

  • The bowls club and lifesaving lessons

  • Wildlife organisations and local nature groups

She also founded the pioneering Wood Green Area Waste Action Group — a grassroots movement that led to the first ever green waste collections at the council offices, and ran monthly Swap Shops to reduce waste and build community connections.

🟢 Why Sandra is Standing

Sandra believes that local government should work for people and the planet — protecting public services, restoring nature, and making everyday life fairer and more secure.

As a County Councillor, she will:

  • Push for accessible local transport that connects rural areas

  • Support stronger care and education services

  • Fight for more affordable, sustainable housing

  • Defend green spaces and community wellbeing

  • Back climate action and practical environmental policies

She brings a mix of knowledge, common sense and community spirit — and believes that Green voices on the County Council are essential to shape a fairer, greener Oxfordshire.

🗳 On Thursday 1st May, vote GREEN vote for Sandra Simpson for Brize Norton & Carterton East — a dedicated councillor who’s ready to listen, act, and stand up for our community.
