Policies for a Greener Oxford

Oxford Greens are campaigning in the Oxfordshire County Council elections to elect councillors who will:

Make transport more accessible, sustainable and efficient

  • Introduce traffic calming measures on Morrell Avenue, including with speed cameras.
  • Deliver effective walking and cycling infrastructure so people can get around safely and quickly.
  • Support measures to make our buses more efficient, including the introduction of traffic filters.
  • Campaign to bring buses into public control and support the Cowley Branch Line.

Stand up for Oxford's diverse communities

  • Ensure that Oxford is doing everything it can to resettle refugees and welcome them to our city.
  • Push local MPs to end UK complicity in human rights abuses across the world, such as in Gaza or Yemen.
  • Campaign to stop changes to asylum law which would prevent many refugees from getting British citizenship.
  • Take a stand against discrimination and support the full diversity of beliefs and backgrounds in Oxford.

Tackle the cost of living and deliver public services

  • Invest substantially in community owned renewable energy and home insulation to cut carbon and bills.
  • Provide more support for people who are vulnerable, including through the creation of new hardship funds.
  • Campaign to get NHS and care services back on their feet by ending outsourcing and privatisation.
  • Work to improve education provision across the County, including SEND.
