Oxfordshire Green Party

Paul Skinner, candidate for Rose Hill & Littlemore

Paul has lived on Rose Hill for four years and is enjoying getting involved in the local community. He is a semi-retired educational psychologist and was for many years the Head Teacher of a special school in Hampshire. He is active on the Board of the Peoples’ Supermarket and keen to ensure that local people have access to good quality, reasonably priced food. He is also treasurer of the newly formed Rose Hill and Iffley Low Carbon Group which aims to involve local people in campaigns to reduce their carbon footprint and support sustainable means of producing energy.

Paul is a long time supporter of the Green Party and a keen organic gardener, cook, walker and cyclist. He also enjoys music and sings in the Oxford Community Choir.

If elected to the County Council Paul would work to:

  • Increase the use of renewable energy sources
  • Reverse the push towards schools becoming academies and the fragmentation of the education system
  • Increase the provision of affordable and social housing
  • Stop the movement towards privatisation of local services which makes them less accountable and gives poor value for money
  • Improve facilities for cyclists

Paul says “I am a father of three and I would like my children and grandchildren to grow up in a world where resources are shared fairly, and services such as Education and Health are under local democratic control. The Greens are the only party fighting to retain high quality affordable public services and reduce the inequalities in our current system.”
