Oxford City Council receives 2,500 requests for emergency support since coronavirus lockdown

Says Green Councillor and Neighbourhood Champion Dick Wolff,

"Every application for emergency support is a potential tragedy averted. However, I am surprised at how few requests for support there have been; an average of only about 250 per week. That equates to less than one-quarter percentage of Oxford's population. It is difficult to say why this is so. Is it that the Council are failing to reach the most vulnerable residents or is it that the neighbourhood support mechanisms that have blossomed during lockdown are proving exceptionally effective. Regardless, the Council cannot be complacent and needs to continue to reach out through multiple channels."
