Oxford Action Weekend

Coming to the Oxford Literary Festival? Coming to the UK for the Global Greens congress? Then join us campaigning for this May's Oxfordshire County Council elections.

We will be talking to voters, knocking on doors and handing out leaflets in Oxford. Come and join us, meet other Greens, and learn how our elected Green councillors make a difference.

We need to get more Green Party councillors elected to Oxfordshire County Council in May. The Conservatives want to abolish all local councils and replace them with one Oxfordshire council, which they can dominate forever. Decisions will be made by people who don't know the local area. The Green Party county councillors were the only ones to vote to keep democracy local.

Programme

Saturday 25 March

We will meet people coming to Oxford in the centre of town, brief you, then send you off to where we are campaigning on the day. You can approach us at these times and places (see map):

1030-1100: Literary festival café inside Worcester College.
1100-1600: Green Party stall on Broad Street with Keith Taylor, Green MEP for SE England.
1330-1400: Literary festival café in the festival marquee, next to the Sheldonian.

There you can pick up canvassing packs and head off to join one of the teams campaigning in the streets of east Oxford. There are two, 2-hour shifts: 1100-1300 and 1400-1600. Come for the day, if you can, and have lunch with other Green Party campaigners and hear from our councillors and candidates.

Sunday 26 March

Come to Cowley. We will have someone ready to greet you, brief you, hand out packs and then you to one of our campaigning teams. Meet us at these times and places:

1030-1100: Central café inside Templars Square shopping centre, Between Towns Road, Cowley.
1300-1400: The William Morris pub, Between Towns Road, Cowley.

If completely lost, ask at the Green Party stall on Broad Street.

There will be two canvassing shifts, 1100-1300 and 1400-1600.

We need to get dozens of people out campaigning to save David William's county council seat and win another one. When we have two or more Green county councillors we can make a difference, fighting against cuts and for the people of Oxfordshire.

Sign up for one or more shifts below. If you need help with transport or overnight accommodation (in an Green Party member's house) contact us.
