I am a university lecturer and Associate Professor of Physiology and Pharmacology. In 2014 I was the recipient of the UK ‘s Higher Education Bioscience Teacher of the Year Award.
My wife is an NHS consultant cardiologist and German national so consequently our two children attend the European School in Culham and speak a number of European languages. This international dimension to our lives informs my philosophical outlook and commitment to the Green Party.
Whilst the lives of my family and I are rooted in our particular communities, my involvement with the Green Party provides a larger vision of what societies can aspire to for the betterment of all and for the continued health of our fragile and beautiful planet.
At the local level, in my scarce spare time I coach the under 11 European School basketball team, and at a more global level I sponsor children in Sudan and Somalia. Additionally, in the summer my family will participate in charitable work in South Africa.
So guided by Green Party principles I am concerned with “the quality of life for all people”; including “personal freedom, social equity, health, happiness and human fulfilment” and do what I personally can to improve the lives of others.
