Oxfordshire Greens at the Green Party Autumn Conference

5 October 2012

Cllr David Williams and Sid Phelps with Tony Benn

Four members of Banbury and Cherwell Green party were amongst those from Oxfordshire attending the GP conference in Bristol. Between us we attended most of the debates, workshops, fringe meetings and social events. We all enjoyed being amongst 600 odd Greens and meeting/seeing the movers and shakers of GPEX and especially our impressive new Leader and Deputy leader. One of our actions following the conference will be to arrange a public meeting on the proposal to possibly develop Upper Heyford Airbase as a new international Airport with Keith Taylor MEP who, at conference, agreed in principle to speak and also hopefully John Steward from HACAM/Airport Watch and Cait Hewitt from Environment Aviation Federation.

The results of conference are on the members' website at, which should be read in conjunction with the final agenda.

There was lots of excellent coverage of conference, from the Guardian John Harris's video to The Ecologist article
