Says former Green Councillor and homelessness campaign, David Thomas; "This facility is welcome but it should be recognised for what it is - an out of town replacement for Simon House [1]. It will not lead to the increase in bed capacity that we so desperately need. Neither do we yet know whether accommodation which can only be reached by bus from the centre - where most other facilities for the homeless are located - will prove accessible for rough sleepers "
