Lois has lived in West Oxford for 27 years and is passionate about building stronger communities and tackling climate change. She was Chair and a member of West Oxford Community Association for 10 years, and a co-founder of Hogacre Common and Low Carbon West Oxford. Whilst Chair of WOCA, she put in the first Zipcar car share in the area, installed solar panels, and established the café. These still provide regular income for the centre. She has worked for local councils, housing associations, arts organisations and low carbon projects, and currently works part-time for withami.co.uk on a project to reduce loneliness and isolation.

Lois believes that Oxford city council needs better political balance. “Labour has a disproportionate majority on Oxford City Council – it holds 75% of the seats despite winning less than half of the votes across the city in the last elections in 2016. Too many Labour councillors become complacent and are failing to do enough to reduce traffic and the air pollution it causes, make cycling safer or reduce homelessness. A stronger opposition will hold the Labour majority to account more effectively.”

Her main priorities for a fairer, healthier, more sustainable Oxford are:

  • Ending the Homelessness Crisis
  • Tackling Air Pollution
  • Challenging Brexit
  • Protecting our Environment

“I would be honoured to be elected as your representative to serve and hold the City Council to account”
