Homelessness Petition Launched, Thursday 16th February 2017

What are you doing this Thursday, 16th Feb? Can you spare a few minutes? Please join County candidates, Councillors and Green Party Co-Leader Jonathan Bartley in Oxford to launch Oxford City Greens' homelessness petition.

The plan for the day is:

1pm – Gathering at the Marsh Harrier pub to petition in Temple Cowley (40 Marsh Rd, Oxford OX4 2HH)

3:30-4:40pm - Visit to ‘Iffley Open House’ (the occupation of an building that was empty for two years on Iffley Road, to temporarily providing secure shelter and basic amenities for people sleeping rough)  https://www.facebook.com/IffleyOpenHouse/

6-7pm – Jonathan Bartley, co-leader of the green Party, gives a talk at Oriel College, organised by Oxford Student Greens. More info:

Our petition demands that Oxford City Council urgently spend some of its ~£900,000 homelessness fund to help people now. Labour have a history of refusing to spend this reserve despite Green pressure - they claim they have to hold it back for an emergency! With the number of rough sleepers in Oxford on the rise and the overwhelming public support for the Iffley Open House squat, now is the time for the council to help people who are most desperate in these cold times.

Please help us!
