Greens rise to become 2nd party in Oxford

At both the recent local and Euro elections the Greens polled second, behind Labour, across Oxford City clearly establishing themselves as the City's second party.

In the popular vote, the Greens beat the LibDems, Tories and UKIP.

"This is certainly an historic moment, we believe that a healthy democracy requires a strong opposition and this is a role where the Greens have proven themselves effective. Whilst Labour have the most Council seats they are still not securing the majority of the votes. Someone needs to stand up for those residents for whom Labour is not their first choice."
