Greens have welcomed the award by the Government of £20m to help solve Oxford's housing crisis but have warned that this will deliver fewer than 200 homes per year over the next 8 years.
This is insufficient to meet current needs let alone the extra pressure that will be created by the new jobs at Northern Gateway and Osney Mead
Says Green Councillor David Thomas, "We need more, affordable social housing and a balanced approach to employment otherwise we will simply end up with more pressure on our housing supply, even higher prices and more people facing a long commute into Oxford."
