Frances Mortimer 2025 County Council Election Eynsham

Dr Frances Mortimer

Green Party Candidate for Eynsham
Oxfordshire County Council Election 2025

“I want to help create a thriving, healthy community where we care for each other, protect nature, and plan wisely for the future.”

🌿 Rooted in the Local Community

Frances Mortimer grew up in West Oxfordshire and returned 16 years ago to raise her own family. She now lives locally with her husband and their three children — and is deeply committed to making this a wonderful place to live, for current and future generations.

Frances is often spotted cycling around on the family’s bright blue e-cargo bike, her kids riding on the back — a joyful example of the kind of low-impact, connected lifestyle she wants to make easier for everyone in our community.

🩺 A Health and Sustainability Leader

After studying medicine in Oxford and London, Frances worked as an NHS doctor for five years before stepping away in 2008 to co-found the independent charity The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare, where she now works as Medical Director.

Her work has focused on helping the NHS reduce its environmental impact while improving care — showing that health, sustainability and fairness can and must go hand in hand.

🌳 A Champion for Land, Nature and Community

Frances is an active member of a local Land and Nature working group, and for the past three years has been helping to coordinate tree planting and habitat protection in collaboration with local farmers and residents.

She believes deeply in the power of local food systems, clean air and water, and nature-based solutions to climate and health challenges — and she wants the County Council to do more to support these positive changes.

🌍 Frances’s Vision for Eynsham and Beyond

If elected to the County Council, Frances will work towards a healthier, more self-sufficient and better-connected community. Her priorities include:

  • Supporting locally grown food and community food networks

  • Ensuring homes are well-insulated and energy efficient

  • Cleaning up our rivers and air

  • Making streets safer for walking and cycling, especially for children and older people

  • Expanding public transport links to reduce car dependence

🟢 A Green Voice You Can Trust

Frances brings to local politics a rare combination of medical knowledge, environmental leadership, and deep community roots. She’s thoughtful, practical, and committed to long-term wellbeing — not just quick fixes.

She will listen to residents, stand up to short-sighted planning, and work hard to make sure Eynsham’s future is fair, sustainable, and full of opportunity.

🗳 On Thursday 1st May, vote Dr Frances Mortimer in Eynsham
for clean air, safer streets, and a stronger, greener community for everyone.
