We need lots of helpers on the Cowley by-election day, 17 July 2014. Please take the day off work and come and help.
Many people in Cowley ward are disappointed with the way the Labour administration in Oxford City Council has been neglecting the area. If we can get them to go to the polls and vote for us, we can win: if not this time, in 2016. But too many people give up on politics, don't vote, and leave it to others. We have to make sure all our supporters get to the polls this time.
We need people to:
- Telephone or visit green voters to remind them to get to their polling station.
(In 2013 we lost a seat by 27 votes when our voters stayed at home.) - Help voters get to the polls
(from giving lifts to baby sitting). - Sit outside polling stations smiling at voters and writing down voter numbers.
- Help at our committee roomsÂ
(from making tea and coffee to entering data into computers). - In the evening, as the ballots are opened, tally the votes
(so we know where people are voting green).
Please come to Oxford to help. We will assign volunteers to particular committee rooms during the day. In the evening the ballot boxes are opened in Oxford Town Hall.
When you RSVP below, you will then be sent to a page to indicate your preferences in how you can help. Please complete that page. We will get back to you with specific details about when and where you will be helping on 17th July.
