Don't Even Think About It: Why Our Brains Are Wired To Ignore Climate Change

I'd like to invite you to the UK launch of my new book: Don't Even Think About It: Why Our Brains Are Wired To Ignore Climate Change.

I'll be hosting an engaging interactive event at the Holywell Music Room, Oxford on the 4th of November. You can get tickets here.

I've spent the last two years exploring why, despite all the evidence, we still ignore climate change. My book Don't Even Think About It is the result of interviews with Nobel Prize-winning psychologists and the activists of the Texas Tea Party; the world’s leading climate scientists and the people who denounce them; liberal environmentalists and conservative evangelicals.

This is a ground breaking book that could reshape the way we engage with people on climate change. I'd love it if you came to the launch and explored these ideas with us further.

At the event we'll explore:

  • Why do most people never talk about climate change?
  • Why did scientists, normally the most trusted professionals in our society, become distrusted and hated?
  • Why does having children make people less concerned about climate change not more?

I'd be really interested to discuss these questions further and get your input. This is exactly what we're hoping to do at the launch. I'm hoping it will be an opportunity to take what I've learned writing this book, and begin thinking about how we reshape the way we communicate climate change in the light of this learning.

I've already had some very positive reviews and recommendations: "In his intelligent and genial book, Marshall is neither fatalistic nor idealistic about our chances of survival." Washington Post

To give you a flavour of some of the ideas I've also produced this short video that poses many of the questions I hope we'll explore at the event in Oxford.

I'm really excited about this event, and I really hope you can join me there.

Kind regards,

George Marshall, Founder - Climate Outreach and Information Network.
