Following the City Council's controversial takeover of East Oxford Community Centre, the free Christmas Day lunch has been cancelled. It was organised last year by the deposed East Oxford Community Association and run by volunteers - a popular safety net for the lonely, poor and vulnerable in East Oxford.
Instead EOCC will be closed from 24th December to 3rd January.
Say East Oxford Green Cllr Elise Benjamin: "I have already been contacted by one elderly resident who now has nowhere to go on Xmas Day - it is very sad that the Council is closing the Centre over Xmas."
