City Council publishes Biodiversity Review for Oxford City Council Parks and Nature Areas 2020

The Greens have welcomed the long overdue review of Oxford's biodiversity but pointed to continued inconsistencies between the words and actions.
Says Green Cllr Craig Simmons, "This Biodiversity Review is long overdue but nonetheless welcome. As the Citizens' Assembly highlighted, residents value the City's parks and open spaces protected and want to see their natural value enhanced. However, there is still a serious disconnect between what the Council say and what they are doing. They are pushing ahead with the expansion of the Seacourt Park and Ride - which will destroy sensitive wildlife habitats,  they are continuing with the spring mowing of verges and they are paving over green spaces in places such as Blackbird Leys to provide additional off-street parking. I don't think residents want 'spin' - they want to trust that the Council will actually do the right thing."
