-

Warm in winter, cool in summer, lower energy bills

-

Online : Monday 27th February 20.00 – 21.30

Organised by West Oxfordshire Green Party

At a time when the cost of living has soared, due to energy prices, the cost of heating our homes is on everyone's mind.  Retrofitting your home to save energy and reduce costs is probably the first thing you should be thinking about.

Building on the campaign that West Oxfordshire Green Party started over two years ago, with its first workshop on “Net Zero, Warm Homes and Green Jobs”, we have now organised a "retrofit special" when we will be looking at examples of best practice. We will be  discussing some of the initiatives presently underway and asking " What else we could be doing?".

The programme will be Chaired by Green Party Cllr Rosie Pearson (West Oxfordshire District Council) and includes talks and Q&A’s on:

  • ‘Home Comforts’

This is a Charlbury Town Council project which will create whole house plans for lowering energy use and carbon emissions for ten typical house types. It will be shared with all Charlbury residents and beyond.

Speaker: A member of the Charlbury Town Council Buildings Working Group

  • Getting Planners on board

What needs to done to ensuring that planning guidance, policies and sustainability standards deliver quality retrofit and are consistent with the council’s declaration of a climate emergency.

Speaker: Julia Bennett, Director of Green Register, Director of Association for Environment Conscious Building (AECB) and independent architect

  • The Lewes model

This model brings together a number of councils in the area to offer a very large opportunity to the industry for a retrofit programme:  (https://greenworld.org.uk/article/lewes-model-explained) :

Speaker: Cllr Zoe Nicholson, Deputy Leader Lewes District Council

  • Developing the Skills needed

Speaker: Cllr Andrew Prosser, West Oxfordshire District Council.
