Oxford City Council flies twin city flags following UK’s Brexit
From the Lord Mayor of Oxford:
Lord Mayor of Oxford Cllr Craig SIMMONS is to undertake a twin towns tour in February visiting Bonn, Leiden and Wroclaw to reinforce friendship links post-Brexit.
Says the Lord Mayor, "I want our European twin towns to know that Oxford is still the same outward-facing, international City that it always has been. EU citizens will always be welcome here."

The trip will be undertaken entirely by train in keeping with the Lord Mayor's aim to reduce carbon emissions.

Plans to dual A40 miss the mark

Plans to dual A40 miss the mark.

Planned works to the A40 that include turning the stretch between Witney and Eynsham into a dual carriageway will receive £102m from central government funding, it was announced in November.

The Treasury said this money would “unlock” the building of 5,050 new houses; information absent from the Oxfordshire County Council’s own announcement. More housing means more pressure on this heavily congested route, further undermining the efforts to improve it.

Amelia Womack - Mother Earth? Talk and Q&A

Image may contain: 3 people

Amelia Womack is the Deputy Leader of the Green Party of England and Wales. In the week of International Women’s Day, she’ll be joining us to talk about the intersection between gender equality and environmental justice. She’ll be sharing some of her own experiences as an environmental scientist and activist; considering the feminisation of the term “Mother Earth”; and celebrating the achievements of women in environmentalism.

Amelia is the youngest deputy leader of any UK political party, and was elected aged 29 while still a member of the Young Greens. She is committed to youth engagement, and making young peoples’ voices heard both in politics and within the Green Party. She was the party’s parliamentary candidate in Newport West in 2019, co-chairs the People’s Assembly, and is co-founder of Another Europe is Possible.

The event will be held in University College's Lecture Theatre on 10 Merton Street. The event is fully accessible, but only from inside Univ, so please let us know beforehand if you require it so we can make the arrangements.
