Success as post office agrees to re-open Iffley Road branch

The Post Office have finally agreed to re-open a branch at the Iffley Road Co-op [2], a location suggested by former Cllr David Williams and Cllr Craig Simmons, after the branch at 293 Iffley Road,Oxford (a few doors away from the Co-op) was shut with little warning almost a year ago following a change in management.
The branch was well used and one of only a few remaining in the City.
The petition started by the pair [1] attracted more than 700 supporters. In addition, the two held several meetings with PO representatives and numerous email exchanges.
Says David Williams, "I am absolutely delighted that the Post Office have listened to the weight of public opinion. When I was looking for alternative locations, the Co-op seemed ideal and the management were keen to make it happen. I am glad that it has all worked out."
