Stand Together with EU Citizens

Oxfordshire Green Party will be supporting the Oxford Stays rally being held at 5.30pm in Broad Street, Oxford on Tuesday 28th June.

This event, organised by Remain and Stronger in Europe campaigners, will help to emphasise the strength of feeling and of support for all those whose right to stay in UK may be under threat as a result of the Leave decision on 23rd June. Dr Hazel Dawe, Chair of Oxfordshire Green Party's European Campaign Committee throughout the Referendum campaign, comments:

"Oxfordshire is the only English county which voted for Remain in the Referendum. Oxford itself recorded a 70% vote for Remain. Like London and Scotland, our county expressed its belief in cooperation between European countries and peoples for our mutual benefit."

Hazel Dawe also notes:

Greens in Oxfordshire will be attending the Oxford Stays rally to stand together with European citizens who live and in many cases work here in Oxfordshire. We are appalled that the Leave decision creates many uncertainties for these people and others concerning their right to stay in the UK. We fear an exodus of skilled people will accompany the loss of jobs and investment by European companies in the UK. The serious issues of our time, including climate change, long-term security of employment, human rights and migration all need common action by like-minded States. We must protect EU citizens and others living and working here who provide significant benefits to our society.
