Oxfordshire Green enters Green 'Shadow Cabinet'

Larry Sanders, who was leader of the Green Party's County Council group for 8 years, has been made the national Health and Social Care spokesperson for the Green Party of England and Wales. His brother, Bernie Sanders, is currently contesting for the Democratic Party presidential nomination in the USA. Larry, formerly the Head of Healthwatch Oxfordshire, says:

"My key focus as the Green Party's Health and Social Care spokesperson for England and Wales is going to be campaigning against the privatization of the National Health Service. I am working with Caroline Lucas, Green MP, on a National Health Reinstatement Bill. Caroline Lucas will be introducing this into the House of Commons on the 11th March."

Larry, who Green Party Candidate for Oxford West and Abingdon in the 2015 General Election, is very concerned about the Junior Doctors given the recent news that the Government intends to impose new unfair contract conditions upon them:

"The Green Party supports the Junior Doctors. We are not recruiting or retaining enough Doctors already, and the burden of a new contract requiring extra weekend working with no additional pay is just another deterrent to serving in the NHS. The Junior Doctors and the British Medical Association are fighting for a National Health Service to meet the needs of all people, including those who work in it. They deserve our support. This Government has reached a 'Poll Tax' moment in its misguided policies."
