Housing, Food and Flooding public meeting

A public meeting has been organised by Oxfordshire Green Party in Wallingford on Wednesday 19th October. Housing, Food and Flooding will be introduced as key linked topics in Oxfordshire with implications for our future. The public meeting begins at 7.30pm at Wallingford Town Hall, Market Place, Wallingford OX10 0EG.

Speakers will be:

HOUSING: Sue Roberts, former Wallingford Town councillor and campaigner, will focus on housing challenges in the South Oxfordshire area.

FOOD: Steve Dawe, who has lectured in Development Studies for three different universities, will explain how the UK needs to work on improving food security for the future and food sovereignty, where we gain more control over the food we produce and eat.

FLOODING: Richard Harding, of the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, will talk on the Western Conveyance Channel, the flood alleviation scheme that may bring a lot more flood water towards Wallingford (and Abingdon) if the funds to complete it are found.

The meeting will be chaired by Helen Gavin.
