Greens become fourth party in Britain

Oxfordshire Green Party is delighted with the Green Party’s European Election results. Greens were fourth in the elections in  every part of England, pushing the Liberal Democrats into fifth place. Greens beat the Liberal Democrats in Scotland and Wales as well.

In short, Greens are the fourth political party in Britain despite remarkably limited media coverage in the recent elections.  The Green Party has three Members of the European Parliament – for the South East, South West and London regions – compared to only one in Britain for the Liberal Democrats. Steve Dawe comments:

“The Green Party’s European Election results, combined with good local election results, included good results in Oxfordshire itself in local and European elections. The Green Party obtained 22,490 votes in Oxfordshire in the European Elections as well as a net gain of one councillor on Oxford City Council.”
