Green MP to make rare return to her Oxford roots

Caroline Lucas, the well known MP for Brighton Pavilion, co-leader of the Green Party and former Oxfordshire County Councillor is to make a rare return to Oxford this week, where she was first elected.

Says Caroline Lucas,

"I was elected County Councillor in Oxfordshire in 1993.  It was one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. For four years, as a lone Green on the Council, I was able to be that voice in the room speaking truth to power.  No-one else was willing to say the difficult things that needed to be said."

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY: CARFAX FRIDAY 3PM 19TH JANUARY 2018

Caroline is to meet with local Green Councillors and members at Carfax, 3pm Friday 19th January, to be briefed on current issues of concern that the Greens are campaigning on, including the rising number of rough sleepers and the worsening air pollution.

Contact details on the day: Elise Benjamin 07920 054888

In the evening, Caroline is presenting to a sold-out event at the Environmental Change Institute, talking on the subject of "Transforming Britain: Green politics in the 21st century"

LOCAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN LAUNCH: SATURDAY 10.30 AM 20TH JANUARY 2018

Caroline will be kicking-off the Oxford campaign launch event at the East Oxford Community Centre as the Greens look ahead to the local elections in May 2018. Joining Caroline on the programme will be guest speakers from other parts of the country as well as Oxford's own election candidates and Councillors.
