City Council wins further £500,000 funding to help rough sleepers
Green Councillors have welcomed the additional Government support for homelessness. Says Green Group Leader Cllr Craig Simmons,
The focus of the Green Party's last local election campaign was homelessness. It seems that the message has hit home. Just a year ago the City Council were denying the issue whilst introducing controversial policies aimed at 'managing' rough sleeping - such as the Public Space Protection Order, Community Protection Notices - and closing hostels such as Lucy Faithfull House. East Oxford By-Election

We need helpers to get David Williams re-elected as our Green county councillor on by-election day, 18 Oct. 2018.

We need people to:

  • In the afternoon and early evening: Visit green voters to remind them to get to their polling station.
  • During the day, but particularly 7 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.: Sit outside polling stations smiling at voters and writing down voter numbers (telling)
  • Help at our committee rooms (from making tea and coffee to entering data into computers)
  • From 10 p.m., as the ballots are opened, tally the votes (so we know exactly where people are voting green).

Please come to Oxford to help.

When you RSVP below, you will then be sent to a page to indicate your preferences in how you can help. Please complete that page.

Cheryl Briggs could be our next Green Councillor in Abingdon! She kicks off her campaign today with an Action Day of door-knocking in her ward. Do come along to show your support, and perhaps try out canvassing for the first time. It will be sociable, and supportive and you'll get the chance to meet others, and share lunch.

So do join us from 8pm at the Royal Blenheim, St Ebbes Street, Oxford, OX1 1PT (we're there every last Friday of the month!)

If you've never been before, call Cheryl on 07500 665207  so she can welcome you!

You can find us at a table at the back; someone might have a green party Tshirt on and/or there'll be an A4 Green Party poster propped up on the table. Or just ask at the bar for directions!
